Irish Blessing

May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
And rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.

May you always have
Walls for the winds,
A roof for the rain,
Tea beside the fire,
Laughter to cheer you,
Those you love near you,
And all your heart might desire!

Possa tu sempre avere

May you live as long as you want,
And never want as long as you live.
May you live to be a hundred years,
With one extra year to repent!
May there be a generation of children
On the children of your children.

Possa tu vivere a lungo come tu desideri

Always remember to forget
The things that made you sad.
But never forget to remember
The things that made you glad.
Always remember to forget
The friends that proved untrue.
But never forget to remember
Those that have stuck by you.
Always remember to forget
The troubles that passed away.
But never forget to remember
The blessings that come each day.

Ricorda sempre di dimenticare
Le cose che ti resero triste,
Ma non dimenticare mai di ricordare
Le cose che ti resero felice
Ricorda sempre di dimenticare
Gli amici che si dimostrarono falsi,
Ma non dimenticare di ricordare
Coloro che furono attaccati a te.
Ricorda sempre di dimenticare
I problemi che hai passato,
Ma mai dimenticar di ricordare
Le benedizioni che vennero giorno dopo giorno.

May you always have work for your hands to do.
May your pockets hold always a coin or two.
May the sun shine bright on your windowpane.
May the rainbow be certain to follow each rain.
May the hand of a friend always be near you.
And may God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.

Possa l'arcobaleno seguire sempre ogni pioggia

May your pockets be heavy and your heart be light.
May good luck pursue you each morning and night.

Blessing Of The Three



The Sacred Three My fortress be
Encircling me,
Come and be round
My hearth, my home.
Fend Thou my kin
And every sleeping thing within
From scathe, from sin.
Thy care our peace
Through mid of night
To light's release.

O Santa Trinità,
Sii Tu la mia Fortezza!
Abbracciami e proteggi
La casa, il focolare, la famiglia
- tutto quello, insomma, che mi riposa accanto -
Dalla sventura e dalla colpa.
Dacci serenità,
Dal cuore della notte
Fino a che torni
La luce del mattino!

Blessing for a New Home

A blessing upon your new home,
A blessing upon your new hearth,
A blessing upon your new dwelling,
Upon your newly-kindled fire.

Una benedizione per la mia nuova casa
Per il mio nuovo cuore
Per i miei nuovi gioielli
Per i fuocherelli dall'aspetto novizio.

A blessing upon your tallest grass,
A blessing upon your fruitful partner,
A blessing upon your growing sons,
Upon your growing daughters.

Una benedizione per la tua erba alta
Per il tuo fruttifero compagno
Per i tuoi figli che crescono
Per le tue figlie che crescono.

A blessing upon the household's helpers,
A blessing upon the children yet unborn,
A blessing upon the wise parents,
Upon your occupation.

Una benedizione per chi aiuta in casa,
Per i bambini che ancora dovranno nascere,
Per i saggi genitori,
Per il tuo lavoro.

A blessing upon your goods and income,
A blessing upon your kith and kin.
A blessing upon you in light or darkness,
Each day and night of your lives.

Old irish Wedding Blessing



May God be with you and bless you.
May you see your children's children.
May you be poor in misfortune, rich in blessings.
May you know nothing but happiness.
From this day forward.

Possa Dio esserti vicino e benedirti.

Irish Toasts



I have known many, liked not a few,
loved only one, I drink to you.

Ho conosciuto molte persone, me ne sono piaciute non poche

May the grass grow long
on the road to hell for want of use.
As you slide down the banisters of life
may the splinters never point the wrong way.
May your troubles be as few and as far apart
as my Grandmothers teeth.
May the roof above us never fall in,
and may we friends gathered below never fall out.

Possa l'erba crescere folta

May the Lord keep you in His hand
and never close His fist too tight.
May your neighbors respect you,
Trouble neglect you, The angels protect you,
And heaven accept you.

Possa il Signore averti nella sua mano
E mai chiuderla cosí da stringerti.
Possano i tuoi vicini rispettarti
I problemi girarti lontano, gli Angeli proteggerti
Ed il paradiso poterti accogliere.

May the strength of three be in your journey.
In the New Year, may your right hand always
be stretched out in friendship and never in want.

Here's that we may always have a clean shirt,
a clean conscience, and a guinea in our pocket.
May I see you grey and combing your children's hair.
May your doctor never earn a dollar out of you
and may your heart never give out.

May the ten toes of your feet steer you clear
of all misfortune, and before you're much older,
may you hear much better toasts than this.
May you have the hindsight to know where you've been,
the foresight to know where you're going
and the insight to know when you're going too far.
May you be poor in misfortune, rich in blessings,
slow to make enemies, quick to make friends.

But rich or poor, quick or slow,
may you know nothing but happiness from this day foward.
May the frost never afflict your spuds.

May the crow never pick your haystack,
and may your donkey always be in foal.

May the sound of happy music
And the lilt of Irish laughter,
fill your heart with gladness,
that stays forever after.
May the hinges of our friendship never grow rusty.

Possa il suono di una musica leggiadra
E l'eco di una risata Irlandese,
Riempirti il cuore di felicità,
Che duri e si rinnovi nel tempo.
Possano i cardini su cui poggia la nostra amicizia mai potersi arrugginire.

Beautiful young people are acts of nature,
But beautiful old people are works of art.

Drinking Toasts



Here's to me, and here's to you,
And here's to love and laughter -
I'll be true as long as you,
And not one moment after.

Eccomi a me ed ecco a te
Ed ecco all'amore e al buonumore
Sarò sincerò a lungo come te lo sarai
E mai un momento dopo.

May your glass be ever full.
May the roof over your head be always strong.
And may you be in heaven half an hour
before the devil knows you're dead.

Here's to you and yours, and to mine and ours.
And if mine and ours ever come across to you and yours,
I hope you and yours will do as much for mine and ours,
As mine and ours have done for you and yours!

When we drink, we get drunk.
When we get drunk, we fall asleep.
When we fall asleep, we commit no sin.
When we commit no sin, we go to heaven.
So, let's all get drunk, and go to heaven!

Cosí ubriachiamoci tutti e andiamo in paradiso.
