Now that Jacques has left us, and the long silence surrounding his work is finally beginning to lift, it is time to move forward. No longer through the slow assimilation of the insights of the early 1970s – which for him were never an endpoint, only a point of departure – but through engagement with the conclusions reached after another fifty years of uninterrupted research, of which this brief selection (Camatte’s latest topics) offers a first glimpse. ¶ Much of the milieu that, over recent decades, has worked within the same constellation of the Marxian legacy – Lukács, Debord, Kurz, Endnotes, Negri, Sohn-Rethel, and others (not, of course, Bordiga) – often through forms of conservation and evasion, may find it difficult to measure themselves against this task, but may no longer be able to defer the confrontation.
